  Gambling

Gambling is an industry in which Australians spend over 118 billion dollars each year of which about 13 billion dollars is lost. Unfortunately, the vast majority of gamblers have no real idea of just how the odds are stacked against them.

To provide a realistic theme for the unit, the instructors use real gaming devices including poker machines, two-up, craps and roulette wheels. This hands-on approach leads to a deeper understanding of the statistical principles involved as well as making it a much more enjoyable task. This web site also provides the opportunity for students to simulate various gambling activities to evaluate and compare playing strategies.
