ENGL 335 Writing Project

Outline

This unit is suited to students who are developing skills and confidence with their fiction, script or poetry writing. Students individually devise their own writing 'project' early in the semester in consultation with their lecturer, and then workshop their drafts, revise and rewrite for final submission. A project might comprise of 2-3 short stories thematically or stylistically linked, a couple of novel chapters, a series of linked poems, or a script and treatment.

Weekly meetings include the workshopping of students' creative work, and discussion of readings of prose, poetry, theatre or film. The aim is that each student extends her or his technical and thematic creative writing skills through a regular and often intensive writing practice, and by workshopping their own and others' work.
