elements of drama - ECHL111

The unit begins with an examination of ritual and its relationship to performance, focusing on such elements as movement/dance, costume/mask, sound/music and dramatic structure. The actor's craft will be examined, alongside the language of the stage and text.

Lectures and workshops will cover movement, voice, improvisation, text analysis, character development and the role of the actor, director, designer and writer. Students will develop skills in the critical assessment of play production and receive an overview of current theatre practice in Australia.

Current students should refer to the 'Using WebCT: Technical Information' (web site info) document and then log in to the password protected area.
