CBMS305 Medical Microbiology
A MESSAGE FROM THE UNIT CONVENOR
This unit is concerned with the important role of microorganisms in medicine. Topics ranging from the role of the normal human micro-flora and the body's natural defenses to the disease causing organisms and their epidemiology. The course covers medically important bacteria, protozoa, fungi and and viruses.
The weekly laboratory sessions provide students with the skills to handle microorganisms safely and demonstrate the techniques used to identify bacteria in a clinical laboratory.
The practicals in this unit will be coordinated by Dr Martin Slade, while the lectures are coordinated by Dr Subra Vemulpad.
