Introduction : Textbook : Assessment Guidelines
IntroductionThis unit aims to examine features of administrative law, criminal law and litigation in the Australian legal system, particularly as they relate to the commercial context. Australia, as well as its global competitors and peers, is becoming an increasing litigious society, with its commercial activities being subject to increasing levels of government regulation and scrutiny. Consequently, it is vital that all players in Australian business (and not just the lawyers) have a solid understanding of the legal ramifications of their activities in order to better inform effective commercial decision-making. In analysing these issues, students will develop their existing research skills using primary and secondary legal source materials. In addition, the course will equip students to engage in legal problem solving. Skills in effectively articulating and communicating research outcomes will be obtained through active class participation exercises.
