Help
Note that this help is intended for those units hosted on Online Learning @ MQ.
Internet Access
You can access your unit web site from anywhere on the Internet. Access to the Internet is available on-campus, through an Internet Service Provider (ISP), some local libraries, or Internet cafes anywhere in the world. If you can get to sites on the Internet, then you should be able to access your online units.
On-Campus Access
The Internet can be accessed from several places on campus:
-
The Library has computers available with printing facilities and Internet access. Computers can be booked on level 1. Further information is available from IT Help http://www.library.mq.edu.au/help/
Wireless computer network on campus. When you are on the campus your laptop can connect to the Internet via radio waves rather than over wires. Your laptop will need wireless capability, and its network card must comply with a standard supported by the University. Currently, wireless is available in several buildings on campus. By mid-2006 the wireless network will cover most of the campus.
The latest information and help about wireless Internet access on campus is available from the Student site (go to http://www.mq.edu.au/, select Student, then Wireless Internet)
Information Technology Services (ITS) has several student laboratories. Details of their locations, opening hours and printing facilities are at http://www.its.mq.edu.au/staff_services/student_labs.pdf. Contact the ITS Helpdesk for further information (http://www.its.mq.edu.au/).
Some Departments have their own computer laboratories that you can use - check with departmental offices for details.
